“
Audio is
more than
my vocation,
it’s my
passion!
”
I didn’t choose audio as a vocation. It chose me. I’ve been fascinated by sound ever since I was a kid. I do for a living what I would do for fun, even if it wasn’t my job.
That means I’m self-motivated to stay up-to-date on current technologies, workflows, and techniques. I read thousands of pages of technical documentation, attend seminars, and compare notes with others on online forums. I’m constantly trying new approaches and experimenting with new ideas.
After years of doing this, I’ve accumulated a sizeable arsenal of tricks and secret recipes, so when I get to work on your project, I hit it already running. I combine that knowledge with intrinsic organizational and communication skills that I use to listen carefully to instructions, anticipate what others will want, prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and make sure no detail is overlooked.
What matters most to you is that my work sounds good. Really good. Since the Number One enemy of any audio project is the dreaded “Whaddesay?” I focus on dialog intelligibility, making sure every word can be easily and clearly understood. I also bring a unique approach to surround sound that gives the listener a greater sense of “being there.”
I’m constantly listening to the world around me, and making notes about how we perceive various sounds. I then apply that when creating sound effects, to more closely reinforce the mood of the setting.
I stay cool when the pressure is on, because getting tense interferes with getting things done.
I like playing with others, and am acutely aware that every project is a team effort. That said, I have no problem working on my part by myself. If I run into trouble, I’ll ask for guidance.
I do my work in a way that accommodates the needs of others.
I have excellent deductive reasoning skills, which makes troubleshooting faster and more accurate.
